Ahrens Foundation: ‘Filling a Chair’

In honor of their being named “Outstanding Corporate-Foundation
Philanthropist” by the Central Iowa Chapter of the Association of
Fundraising Professionals last month, the chapter presented the Claude W.
and Dolly Ahrens Foundation with a painting commissioned from Roosevelt
High School student Theresa Larew. Seated in front of the donated picture
below is Julie Gosselink, President and CEO of the foundation; Larew, the
artist, is pictured directly to the painting’s left. Board members and staff
include, from left, Chad Ahrens, Shannon Fitzgerald-Schultz, Susan Witt,
and David Clay. “My inspiration for this piece was the idea that a position
needed to be filled,” said the artist. “The Ahrens Foundation gave so much
and filled this vacant seat. With hard work and giving of your resources,
wonderful things can happen.”
